Scripture of the day: A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. (Proverb 11:25 NIV).
During my morning worship and study time, I was reminded of the kind acts that took place during the past several months. Acts of love shown by way of giving and helping are all displays of God’s mercy and grace. I recall a random act of kindness that a friend whom I met via social media shared. A few weeks back Raquel shared an event organized by a member of her church. Members got together on a Saturday and headed for their local market place. The plan was to meet and greet people who would like a hug. The group stood outside holding signs that read “Free Hugs.”

As I read about their adventure, within my heart I could feel the love shown by this random act of kindness that moved Raquel and her friends into action. They were the arms and feet of Jesus. They took time from their Saturday to show others the true love of Christ.

This is the comment that Raquel shared:

I was a hugging machine. I can’t deny we were rejected and even received crazy looks, but it was all worth it for those who received at least a smile. And when asked, ‘Why?’ we told them that ‘Jesus loves you, we are spreading His love.’ Truly blessed to be used to lift spirits and ignite hope all for His glory. The people left with joy. How many times didn’t Jesus get rejected, mistreated and He still loved and He loves us so much that He died for us to live. Blessings beautiful souls.”

This group definintely had the right spirit and the heart of Jesus. By showing concern for the well being of others and giving to meet a need. We are helping to lighten the burdens of others. That is what Jesus came to do. When we show the love of Christ, we are giving them hope and a brighter outlook on life. It not only blesses them, but we too are blessed in giving as well. We are sure to feel a sense of joy and fulfillment. God loves cheerful givers. One act of kindness can change a life.

“Love others, Live to Give and Share a Hug.”

Blessings of my love to you!

  • The last act of kindness I shared was giving clothes and shoes to Goodwill. I love donating and giving when I can. I loved the idea the group came up with. I want to start doing more in my community as well 🙂 Lovely post 🙂

    • I loved the idea, too! Giving is such a rewarding feeling when it’s done with a right heart.
